Co-Sleeper for New Cub Cuddling

Add Comment

There’s a lot of sleep advice out there for new parents, mostly to prevent Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. It can be difficult to find the right bed for your baby. A bassinet, maybe? A crib right off the bat? Some parents advocate sleeping with your children and claim that they have never had any problems at all—but experts say this is a bad idea, as demonstrated by so many cases of infants being smothered to death by sleeping parents.

Gro Diapers

Cute DiapersCute DiapersDiapers have to be high on the list of things that new parents will grow to hate very quickly.  Whether it is the high price, the mess, the awkward fit, the leaks or any other number of complaints there is just no getting around the fact that diapers are not one of the many adorable things that enter a person's life when they bring home a new baby.

So image only ever having to buy one diaper (sort of) for years?  Your savings could be huge!  Not to mention how much waste you would be preventing from harming the environment.   And using a non-disposable cloth diaper alternative is also kinder to baby, with no rough plastic or irritating chemicals.

These Gro-Diapers are definitely on my top ten list of gifts for any new parent.  I would even go so far as to say that these are a must for every new parent.   Now forgive me while I rave for a bit about why I love them so much...

Babies Can Sign Too

One of the scariest parts of bringing home a new baby is that we, as adults, must guess what each new cry means. The whining cry, the frustrated cry, the blood curdling hungry cry and every cry in between all sound the same when a parent is running on empty. The result is frustration for both the baby and the parents.
What if there were a way to communicate with your baby before he or she were able to speak?

Fortunately, there is; it is called Baby Sign Language and although not widely adopted, it has been around for years, and those who have used it are quick to say how rewarding the practice is.

The muscles in an infant's hands develop long before he or she can speak, and they already have a vocabulary or basic instructions with which they use to communicate. Most babies naturally do things such as pointing, or making a grabbing gesture.

New Baby Names

Could you give someone a gift of a name for their new baby?  I can't think of anything more amazing.  Many babies are named after family and friends, or other inspirational figures in the parent's lives.  (I'll try not to be too judgmental of all of those new parents with babies named 'Britney' or 'Paris'.)   Some other well prepared parents spend hours poring over baby name websites and books, and have the baby's name chosen well in advance of the birth.
However, many parents leave choosing the baby's name until after the child is born,  hoping to be able to literally put a name to the face.  So why not give them a helping hand by doing some baby name research of your own?

Organic Baby Gifts

With so much media hype over the last few years about harmful chemicals in our environment it can be stressful for a new parent trying to make sure her baby stays as healthy as possible.  Re-calls and scares over toys made with man made materials seem to be becoming more and more common.  Clear, straightforward information can be difficult to find, while understanding the labels on furniture and deciphering which plastics and finishes are non-toxic seems to require some kind of degree.  (Poly-carbon-what now?)

Crystal Baby Organics has done a marvelous job of sorting through all of the science, and putting together a range of 100% organic, natural clothing, bedding and baby accessories for the nursery.  Made with organic wool and cotton, all of their fabrics are extra soft and gentle on baby's skin.

Baby Fart Aerobics

Don't worry - it's not the latest title for the Wii!  It is actually the name of a DVD which outlines techniques to relieve colic and help your baby to pass gas.

Often a humorous topic for kids and teenagers, and an embarrassing and uncomfortable condition for adults, trapped gas can cause painful colic in babies.

Colic can prevent your baby from sleeping or eating well and invariably is accompanied by crying which can last until the gas is expelled, either through burping or passing wind.  Unfortunately, this crying often makes the problem

Designer Diaper Bags

Forget the frumpy fabrics, tacky cartoon characters and bulky shapes; having a baby is no reason to lose your sense of style.  Dowdy diaper bags are out, and designer diaper bags are in.

When you have a baby a diaper bag is a necessary part of your new ‘outfit.'   It needs to be practical and roomy enough to hold all of the essentials, and most Mommies tend to fall into the trap of thinking that practical means frumpy.
